CAPE TOWN TO HOST THE AFRICAN ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT (UATP) WORKSHOP ON BEST PRACTICES IN AFRICA FOR AFRICA

Hosted by Transport for Cape Town (TCT), the City of Cape Town's transport authority, the event will workshop best practices in Africa and develop the African Public Transport Charter, enabling key role-players, professionals and decision makers, from around Africa, to exchange knowledge, skills and share expertise.
Public transport plays a major role in the access to opportunities, leisure, citizen choice and the economic growth of cities. The workshop will showcase the growing portfolio of evidence that illustrates the contribution that public transport is making to the economic growth and social development of Africa's dynamic cities.
The workshop will include the participation of African policy-makers and institutions, highlighting their significant roles in the implementation of excellent and effective public transport practices. The outcomes and best practices developed for the workshop will in turn be presented to the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) conference to be held in Milan in June 2015.
